Janet Baura
SEVENTH GRADE TEACHER

Mrs. Baura is excited to be joining the faculty at Covenant Christian Academy as the Seventh Grade Teacher! Janet felt the Lord impressing upon her to use her gifts and love of learning to inspire others. She aims to teach the next generation of young minds to know and love God, and to understand the world He has made.

After high school graduation Janet attended the University of Georgia. Two years later, she transferred to the Medical College of Georgia (now Augusta University) for their nursing program and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 2014. She worked as a nurse for six years in hospital settings before choosing to stay home to care for her three young children. Her family has been involved with Covenant since its establishment in 2023.

Her passion for classical education started when she was homeschooling her eldest daughter for a couple of years and reading books such as “The Well Trained Mind” by Dorothy Sayers and “For the Children's Sake” by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay. However, her recent inspiration has come from reading “Climbing Parnassus” by Tracy Lee Simmons while studying Latin on her own. She believes a Classical education is a wonderful tool to train and form the minds and hearts of young people. One thing she is most looking forward to while teaching seventh grade is engaging students in the “logic” stage of the trivium—developing their critical thinking and reasoning skills. She hopes and prays to live up to the motto “docere, delectare, movere”, (to teach, to delight, to move).

In her free time she enjoys reading, exercising, playing chess, drawing or painting and (mostly) spending time with her husband and children. Her favorite Bible verse of late is 1 Corinthians 2:9 which says, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him.”
